Following the Third Hokage's order, the ninja who looked like the captain of the special forces said that the special forces personnel who had immediately sealed off Namikaze Mirai would return to their posts.
However, the remaining dozen or so ninja showed no intention of withdrawing.
Namikaze Mirai's eyes darkened.
"Let him in. This is Lord Hawkeye's order!"
The ANBU captain's eyes darkened beneath his mask as he spoke softly.
Yet the ninja did not move at all.
"You!" The darkness around the captain's eyes deepened.
Namikaze Mirai was the same. The ANBU answered directly to Huo Ying, while Root was under Danzo's command.
Root mostly carried out missions that could not be brought into the light, making them the village's dark side.
As the Fourth Hokage, Namikaze Mirai understood this organization well. They had eliminated many of Konoha's hidden dangers. However, under the latter's leadership, the people of Root had vaguely begun to show signs of becoming another faction, because they obeyed only Danzo's orders.
On the surface, Konoha appeared calm, but even so, there were factional struggles beneath it all—and they were extremely fierce.
After all, the village had been jointly established by many clans. Although most clans considered themselves part of Konoha, once power reached a certain level, some clans or those in power would begin to harbor ambitions for greater authority.
One such faction was the group that had failed to compete with the Third Hokage.
When the Third Hokage handed the position of Huo Ying to Namikaze Mirai, Zang Jun had voiced many grievances.
"You won't even obey Lord Huo Ying's orders?" Namikaze Mirai looked at the dozen or so dark-clad figures before him, his eyes turning slightly cold.
The two sides remained locked in a standoff for a while.
