"Ancient surviving records state that every ten thousand years, light and darkness separate from their parallel paths, alternate within the void, then separate once more. God is born from the imagined shadows of light and darkness."
Notes of Pope Sarg Suman
Legend had it that this continent had once been filled with desolation and silence. God took pity on the people of this land.
After thousands of years, the people of the continent finally began to shape humanity's dreams, advancing from primitive stone civilization to the Iron Age, then to electronic and photonic civilization.
Civilization was considered great and immortal.
Yet another thousand years later, humanity was left with nothing but greed and corruption. This once beautiful continent began to weep.
For a long time, people no longer revered gods or feared demons. Then, in one year, one day, one instant, the world filled with torn spatial rifts. Devils crawled from the cracks, gods descended from the heavens, magical manifestations vented their fury, countless pillars of fire rose across the continent, and civilization turned to ash in the flames.
When the gods returned to heaven once more, the Goddess of Wisdom pitied the few survivors and left behind seeds of wisdom. With a sigh, the nightmare finally seemed to have ended.
Thousands of years later, relying on those seeds of wisdom, people regained mastery over major technologies such as smelting, steam engines, and gunpowder. Though they were still inferior to those of a thousand years ago, the barren land slowly returned to life. One city-state after another was established, and powerful nations spread across the continent.
Gradually, people selectively forgot the shadows of the old era.
