In the autumn of Year 49 of Konoha, Kumogakure in the Land of Lightning sent a delegation to Konoha in the Land of Fire to formally sign a peace agreement between the two villages following the Third Shinobi World War.
On the day the Kumogakure delegation arrived in Konoha, the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, led Konoha's major clans in welcoming and entertaining them. The peace agreement was signed the next day.
The signing of the agreement was regarded as Minato's first major political achievement since taking office as Hokage, and it went some way toward offsetting the damage caused by the earlier theft of the Nine-Tails.
The village was filled with laughter and cheerful chatter.
Afterward, the Kumogakure delegation requested to stay in Konoha for a few days to rest and recuperate. Hokage Minato Namikaze agreed.
Shisui, who knew how the story unfolded, understood that the Kumogakure delegation had another reason for lingering in Konoha.
That evening, Shisui settled Konan in for the night early, then headed toward the Hyuga Clan Compound.
What he didn't notice was that, not long after he left, Konan changed into her ninja clothes and quietly followed him.
"He sneaks out at night like a thief. Who knows if he's off to do something bad? Hmph, I'll follow him and see what he's up to." Konan followed Shisui, her heart pounding with nerves. She was afraid she might actually see him doing something he shouldn't.
Before long, Konan spotted Shisui standing in an alley, silently watching something.
She followed his gaze. The Hyuga Clan Compound lay in that direction.
Konan was thoroughly confused. Until now, she had thought Shisui had sneaked out to meet another girl.
Now she couldn't bring herself to go home, but if she stayed and got caught, that would be awkward
