The Byakugan was a dojutsu originating from the Otsutsuki Clan. It gave its wielder a 360-degree field of vision. (The Byakugan of the Hyuga Branch Family had a one-degree blind spot extending backward from the first thoracic vertebra because of the Caged Bird Seal.) It could see an opponent's chakra network and pressure points, observe the flow of chakra through the body, and see through objects. It also served as a telescope, allowing its wielder to see distant things, and as an Insight Eye, granting keen powers of observation. By using chakra to amplify the eyes' abilities, the wielder could see everything within a one-kilometer radius, and its powers of observation surpassed those of the Sharingan.
