Wood Release Ninjutsu: A secret technique created by the First, Hashirama Senju. This technique was a type of Kekkei Genkai, formed by combining Earth- and Water-nature chakra. The user activated this ninjutsu by using their own chakra as a source of life, causing multiple trees to grow rapidly from the ground and creating an entire forest in an instant. Every offensive and defensive aspect of the trees within the forest was controlled by the user, and it also aided the use of other Wood Release ninjutsu. The defining feature of this type of ninjutsu was that its final hand seal was the Snake seal.
Fire Release Ninjutsu: Ninjutsu performed using Fire-nature chakra, one of the five fundamental chakra nature transformations. The technique gathered chakra in the throat before spewing flames from the mouth to attack. Its characteristic was that the final hand seal usually ended with the Tiger seal. It could counter Wind Release, but was countered by Water Release.
Water Release Ninjutsu: One of the five great chakra natures and a branch of ninjutsu. It attacked or defended by condensing Water-nature chakra, generally using nearby water to perform the technique. Exceptional Water Release users could use it even where no water was available.

The defining feature of Wind Release was that the final hand seal usually ended with the Dragon seal. In the original manga, Wind-nature ninja were rare. Wind Release could defeat Lightning Release through its cutting power, but it also amplified the effects of Fire Release.
