Landen, Theresa, and the others watched as the Great Goblin used its mechanical contraption to climb up to an opening. Just as Landen was about to follow, a string of curses came from inside.
"Get lost, you #%...%%..., you #%'re! You've been scraping by on my magic, and I've had to make all those mud toys for you. Now that you can't win, you've got the nerve to shove me out there? Just look at me! I'm skin and bones. Where am I supposed to get the strength?"
"That voice..." Theresa and Elsa came over, grinning as they asked Landen, "Could that be Fiana in there?"
"If Fiana really had a Goblin that big under her care, wouldn't she be bragging to you about it every day?" Landen said with a laugh. Still, he thought the one cursing the Goblin was probably a Magic Fairy.
"Me, go help you hold them off? Could I even do that? Look at me! Who could I possibly hold off?"
Amid the incessant stream of curses, a Great Fairy really did come down from the opening.
Her appearance bore some faint resemblance to an Earth Fairy, but at first glance she looked like a malnourished child: huge eyes set in deep sockets, with a neck and body as thin as bamboo stalks. If not for the faint, rock-like cracks on her body, Landen would have thought she was a Great Fairy of the lucky bamboo variety.
"Hello. My name is Aofen Golem. I'm the rock-and-earth Great Fairy of this mountain." Aofen seemed perfectly calm, showing no sign of wanting to provoke or resist them.
