On the first floor of the White Whale Temple stood a circular hall. Against the northeast wall was a white jade sculpture of a white whale. Its upper body rose above the water, its eyes gazing into the hall, while its lower body and tail fins remained submerged.
Before the white whale sculpture lay a pool half a meter deep, occupying sixty percent of the hall. Outside the pool was dry ground raised above the water.
The water in the pool had already been stained pale red. A ten-meter-long whale-person lay on her back, groaning without pause.
The whale-person's upper body could barely be called humanoid. Her torso was disproportionately short, her arms short and thick, white webbing stretched between her fingers, and her neck was extremely short. Her face was not unpleasant, but because her neck was so short, her head could only extend forward to a very limited degree. In other words, she could only tilt her head back and could not lower it.
Her lower body was practically that of a white whale, save for the disproportionately swollen belly. The being inside was clearly a favored child of Alice, the White Whale God—the one whose birth had set the entire city on edge.
Several Sea Race maids bustled about beside the whale-person, while a few others stood helplessly nearby, praying softly. Rosef Vishidno Gallop, the only one among them who walked on two legs, continuously cast Life Magic.
Yet the whale-person's body was simply too large. If he wanted to assist with the delivery, he could only sit atop her belly. Perhaps she would not have minded her mentor climbing onto her now, but she kept twisting in pain, and Rosef could not even make her hold still.
"Have Lord Shuyun and that person arrived yet?" Rosef
