In the waiting room of Gallop River Hall in Padmira Palace, quite a few knights were already lined up, waiting. Each was dressed in formal attire and looked sharp and alert. Their lord, Landen Gallop, was about to grant them noble titles. For every one of them, this was a day on par with being reborn.
A year ago, some of them had been Barbarian captives and slaves, while others had languished in obscurity because of their family or history. Starting today, they would become landed nobles, a rarity even in the Empire, and establish brand-new families of their own.
"Do you think that if we wait until Landen is crowned King of the Gallop Kingdom before he enfeoffs us, our titles might be a bit higher?" In the midst of his excitement, Fang asked a question he'd never been able to figure out: why were they in such a hurry to hold these important ceremonies?
Take this morning, for example. Several events were scheduled. First, the Gallop Tribe would hold an official appointment ceremony. Barbarian leaders including Neil, Big Stone, and Lan Wa would receive various Barbarian titles.
Then, Landen would directly knight a large batch of students who had just graduated from Gallop Academy, making them official knights and mages.
Finally, they would grant knightly fiefs and appoint court nobles. According to the information everyone had received, all the appointments would be completed within an hour and a half—in other words, each round of appointments and enfeoffments would last just half an hour.
Of course, those were only today's events. Tomorrow, a group of court knights, including Wufi and Dandelion, would renounce their fiefs and swear to become Landen's court knights.
There would also be a large round of appointments for mages. Mages of intermediate rank and above
