On the last day of Year 997 of the God Emperor, Landen spent his final daylight hours in the former residential quarters of the Duke of Night-Kirin. Throughout the entire day, Landen, his wives, the girls, his family, and the servants were all moving house.
Ever since Landen had confirmed that he would become the Duke of Night-Kirin and receive the title of Gallop King at year's end, his core team had begun relocating to the largest royal residential area at the top of the palace, under Nila and Albert's direction.
The first time Landen had entered this place, he had felt that the entire residential district was laid out like an ocean liner. A vast atrium running through more than a dozen floors linked most of the rooms together, making rooms deep within the "cavern" feel remarkably spacious. The sky ceiling above the atrium used magic to synchronize its brightness with the outside of the palace, creating the illusion of being outdoors.
As the palace district was gradually brought into use, many formerly vacant rooms had also been converted into dedicated spaces: rooms for the four Magic Beasts, Magic Pattern baths, entrances to the control magic matrix and the Teaching Magic Matrix, and so forth.
Landen had also specially set aside two rooms for spatial Exquisite Orbs, to serve as teleportation rooms.
Beyond the increased number of rooms, there were also more people in the palace than before. His father Hark, his uncle Albert, his second brother Obert Gallop, and his third brother Peli Gallop had all received private rooms in the palace. The priests who built Magic Furnaces, the half-beastmen who cared for Magic Beasts, and the Great Magic Fairies all had rooms of their own as well.
