Tens of thousands of Excavator Ants were summoned first and sent to the New Insect Nest construction site.

More than twenty thousand Worker Ants were then assigned to logistics. They needed to transport food to meet the Excavator Ants' daily needs.

The real Insect Nest lay three or four meters beneath the Fake Insect Nest. It, too, consisted of an extensive network of tunnels, and was connected to the Fake Insect Nest by only a single passage. Sand and soil were piled at both ends, ready to be used to bury and seal the passage at any time.

A team of Spy Ants and Excavator Ants was also stationed here year-round.

If enemies invaded the Fake Insect Nest, their task was to bury the passage and lay down misleading pheromones, ensuring the real Insect Nest would remain undiscovered.

Rowan didn't think this was cowardice. He was simply being careful.

He was guarding against the Earth-Yellow Ants above the Cliff. If one day they got it into their heads to charge straight down without turning away from the cliff, his nest would be the first thing they hit.
