The Plan

Sarah had not been idle these past years. It might have seemed that she was trapped at the XM768 Star Gate, but that was actually a very broad concept. She simply could not pass through the Star Gate to return to Zerg territory; in reality, she was still quite free.

Especially after the initial years of tight security had failed to uncover Sarah, the Epoch Clan's patrol intensity had dropped by several levels.

Later, when the Zerg formed an alliance with the Inner Circle Alliance and war against the Epoch Clan began, the forces at the XM768 Star Gate did not return to reinforce their home territory, but neither did they deploy on a large scale anymore, lest they be defeated piecemeal.

Under such circumstances, Sarah could carry out all kinds of activities much more easily.

This starfield had previously been unexplored by the Zerg. At one point, Sarah's insect body had been merely a Node Unit, which had even severed her connection to the Swarm Network.

So when Sarah first negotiated with the Inner Circle Alliance and said she could not contact the Zerg, it had not been entirely a lie.

But not long afterward, Sarah developed a small Zerg colony aboard the ship she was on. Rowan's growing strength, combined with Sarah's own special nature, allowed her to reconnect to the network when the colony had grown to just two hundred units.

Afterward, Sarah carefully nurtured the colony and used her limited authority to covertly aid its growth. She also secretly converted some of the ship's crew into "one of their own."

Inner Circle Alliance ships had always lacked artificial intelligence oversight, making Sarah's operations go very smoothly. With the cooperation of "their own people," the subsequent operations became even easier.

It did not take long before the
