Mouri Ran took a deep breath, then slammed her foot into the door.

The entire corridor seemed to tremble. The door let out a dying "creak," but unexpectedly, it did not collapse. Its hinges had loosened, however, revealing a narrow gap.

Jiang Xia: "..." Noah's products seemed to be fairly well-made.

Mouri Ran was bounced back.

She quickly regained her footing, fighting spirit seeming to blaze in her bright eyes. Using the momentum from before, she spun and kicked again. With a sharp cry, she slammed her foot into the door once more.

The door finally could not endure any longer. It crashed to the ground, kicking up a cloud of bleak dust.

The group stepped over the fallen door and rushed inside, intending to pin down that mystifying Masked Man and catch him red-handed. Then they would lower Haibara Ai and see whether she could still be saved.

Yet the next second, they stared blankly at the empty Biology Classroom.

—There was no one inside, nor was there anything unusual.

The hanging corpse, the candles on the floor, the wax that should have remained, even the Hexagram drawn on the ground... all of it had vanished. There was not even the faintest scent of something having burned in the air, as though what they had just seen had been nothing but an illusion.

Jiang Xia was the first to recover. He paused briefly at the spot where "Miyano" had been hanging in his memory.

Then, behaving exactly as a Detective would, he swept his gaze over the windows and said gravely, "They're all locked from the inside."

"How could she just disappear..." Mouri Ran and Suzuki Sonoko stood trembling at the doorway, too afraid to enter. "Is this haunted?"

Hattori Heiji frowned for a moment, then shook his head
