He successfully ran out of the Basement, then looked up and saw people outside, startling him into thinking he had walked into an ambush.
But upon closer inspection, he realized they were friendly forces.

Conan stiffened, afraid his weapon would be confiscated, and immediately got to the point. "Hurry and stop Miss Ichikawa! The wine is poisoned!"
The statement was somewhat out of the blue.
But soon, someone provided a firsthand explanation for it.
