Vermouth, wearing Dr. Araide's face, kept smiling. "..." Everyone knew Uzo never went out alone. Besides those friends he used to brighten his mood, there had to be room for at least four more people.
Though this had nothing to do with her, everyone knew that when Uzo was in a bad mood, he definitely wouldn't be the one to suffer.
Normally, Vermouth might not have bothered interfering. But two of the children she cared about most were among this group, so she could only put in more effort and pretend to get along perfectly with Uzo.
Amid the noise, two cars arrived one after the other at Izu Seito Hospital.
"You're here!"
Matsuzaki Masahiko, who had been waiting at the hospital, let out a sigh of relief when he saw them. Toda Kiwako's condition was still unclear, but having people he knew by his side made him feel far more at ease.
The group hurried over to ask him about the situation.
Conan, however, did not go forward. He had ridden in Kisaki Eri's car on the way here. Apparently, eavesdropping on the mother and daughter's conversation had given him some sort of clue. He now looked completely confident as he quietly said to Jiang Xia, "I understand everything now!"
Jiang Xia nodded. "But with their messy relationship, even if Toda Kiwako safely gets out of danger, there's no telling whether she'll cooperate with the investigation. If even the victim refuses to acknowledge that a crime occurred, and only we insist on bringing the culprit to justice, this whole thing will turn into a joke in the end."
Conan froze. "Y-you knew too?!"
So Jiang Xia had stayed quiet because he was worried about that. Damn it, he had thought...
Beside them, "Dr. Araide," who had quietly been listening
