The dead woman wore a beautiful earring, but that clearly wasn't what Hashimoto Maya had been focusing on—the important thing was that her earlobe had turned bluish-black. On closer inspection, there seemed to be a needle prick in the middle, making it look as though she had been poisoned.
There was also a thin red mark on the woman's arm.
Jiang Xia had clearly noticed as well. "It doesn't look like suicide. Let's find the train conductor and call the police."
Inspector Megure had just wrapped up the Movie Theater case and was preparing to clock out, eat and drink merrily, and celebrate not having had to work overtime for too long today.
But before he could decide where to go for dinner, another case suddenly came looking for him.
Inspector Megure: "..."
A dozen minutes later, the exhausted inspector arrived at the subway train in question with his equally exhausted subordinates.
"It's you again." Sato Miwako sighed when she saw Jiang Xia. "You didn't go home after things ended at the Movie Theater?"
Jiang Xia pointed at the two useful fake children beside him. "The kids seemed to have been frightened by that corpse, so I took them around somewhere else. Hopefully, some good memories will overwrite that awful one."
Sato Miwako turned and glanced at Conan, who was intently examining the corpse and seemed one step away from pressing his face against it. Then she looked at Haibara Ai, who stood beside him, covering a yawn with her hand out of boredom.
Officer Sato: "..."
They were scared?
Are you sure?
Then again, perhaps this was merely a little trick by crafty children trying to deceive a high school student into going out with them.
Officer Sato considerately chose not to expose them. She shook her head
