For a moment, Conan thought Mrs. Sakihara was merely using that as an excuse to brush him off. Then he felt that her words seemed to carry some deeper meaning.
Realizing she had said too much, Mrs. Sakihara did not continue. She politely saw Conan out.
Conan straightened the collar that had been tugged crooked, then looked back at the closed door. It felt as though a secret that had only just begun to surface had shut itself away again, mercilessly locking him out.
For a moment, he wanted to activate his Enhanced Foot Strength Shoes, kick the door down, grab Mrs. Sakihara, and force her to explain everything... But before he could turn into an outlaw, Mouri Kogoro, who had come back, grabbed him by the collar. "You brat, running around again? Get back with me!"
