Seeing that the case had reached a temporary conclusion and Inspector Megure was free, Conan adjusted his glasses, a cold gleam flashing across the lenses.
He jogged to an empty spot, took out his Voice Changer and phone, and called Inspector Megure as "Kudo Shinichi"—the old man taken away from the Magic Exhibition venue earlier had surely revealed at least some information. If he really had any illegal dealings with Hashimoto Maya, they could still catch Hashimoto Maya before he left.
In the room, Inspector Megure was giving Officer Takagi follow-up instructions when his phone suddenly vibrated with an incoming call.
"It's me, Kudo." Before the officer on the other end could cry out in delight, "Brother Kudo!", Conan cut him off and asked, "How is the investigation into the magic theater going? I heard you took away someone?"

At the mention of this, Inspector Megure hesitated. They had accidentally arrested a minor FBI leader. Though the man had been illegally carrying a gun, his identity was still sensitive. When James and the others came to negotiate, they said they would cooperate with the investigation and abide by all relevant laws and regulations, but demanded absolute secrecy regarding the matter.
Brother Kudo isn't exactly an outsider, but if I mention their identities over the phone, could the call be tapped? Inspector Megure could not help muttering to himself.
