A staff member carrying an exquisite porcelain plate stopped beside the high school students' table.
"Hello." She smiled sweetly. "This is the Rose Salad you ordered earlier."
"Rose Salad?" Suzuki Sonoko looked over curiously and saw that the deep porcelain dish was lined with a layer of emerald lettuce, topped with clusters of budding roses whose stems had been cut away.
"How pretty!" Officer Takagi, who was sharing their table, scratched his head. "But can you eat this?"
Jiang Xia looked at the others at the table. "Who ordered it?"
Mouri Ran snapped out of her daze at the sight of the romantic dish and shook her head.
Then, to her surprise, she noticed that everyone else was shaking their heads too. No one claimed it.
There was no reason for anyone to lie about ordering food, which meant...
"They delivered it to the wrong table?" Suzuki Sonoko raised a hand, intending to call after the departing train attendant.
But just then, a figure stopped beside their table.
The group looked up in surprise and saw a train staff member in a white uniform.
The female train attendant had pulled her cap low over her face, and her voice was crisp. "Sorry to disturb you—Robert simply said that he wanted to wish every guest good morning."
Hashimoto Maya eyed her warily. "Who's Robert?"
The woman smiled without answering. Then the pocket at her side suddenly began to wriggle.
Everyone focused their eyes on it and saw a tiny puppet with tawny brown hair laboriously climbing out of her pocket.
Soon, the puppet, which had the appearance of a foreigner, hopped onto the table with a clack. It raised its little wooden hand and greeted them. "Good morning. How did you sleep last night?"
