Vermouth clenched her fists in anger. Just then, her fingertips brushed against the steel pen, and she suddenly noticed an unusual sensation.
"Hm?" Puzzled, she picked up the pen, turned it toward the light, and looked at it from different angles. On the smooth, rounded body of the pen, a line of tiny words had been etched in laser print:
"Surprise!"

With a sharp crack, the innocent steel pen was forcibly squeezed until a fissure split across it.
Vermouth had originally been feeling a little drowsy, but after that little incident, she actually perked up again.
Putting away that hateful steel pen, Vermouth took a deep breath and took out her phone instead—just now, her phone seemed to have vibrated. It was probably a message.
She lit up the screen, and sure enough, there was a newly received email inside:
Looks like I've been giving you too much freedom lately. Come back to me, Vermouth.
Although she had not added the sender as a contact, and although the email automatically deleted itself only a few seconds after she opened it, its sender could clearly only be "That Lord."
Vermouth leaned back tiredly against the chair back, entered the address, and typed a reply: "OK, boss."
