The signal was poor down here, but even so, Mouri Ran, who was on the phone with Suzuki Sonoko, heard what sounded like a scream from the other end, followed by a clattering crash.
"Sonoko?" Mouri Ran said anxiously. "Sonoko! Say something!"
Conan frowned, realizing his bad premonition had come true. "That murderer must have seen Sonoko holding car keys and wearing platform shoes, mistaken her for a driver, and attacked her!"
"What?!" Only then did Mouri Kogoro and Officer Megure realize the severity of the situation. They hurriedly looked at Mouri Ran, who was still on the phone. "Where did she say she was just now?"
Mouri Ran said anxiously, "Sonoko only said she went upstairs to use the restroom. She didn't say which floor. She's not saying anything now... but, but I can hear some strange sounds! It sounds like some kind of machine making announcements."
As she spoke, she turned on the speakerphone.
A slightly shrill voice came from the phone. An electronic voice somewhere between a child's and a young girl's kept repeating, "Please choose a frame you like, strike a pose, and then press the button."
"This is..." Conan recognized it. "A Purikura machine!"
Mouri Ran tried to remember. "I recall there being two of those machines in the stairwell of the Dining Street on the tenth floor. I took pictures there before."
Mouri Kogoro froze. "The tenth floor? What was she doing all the way up there?"
Inspector Megure said, "Maybe the lower floors had already closed, so she went upstairs to use the restroom and planned to take the elevator down from there."
Superintendent Matsumoto immediately gave orders. "Takagi, have someone turn the lights back on throughout the Department Store. Megure and Sato, take the elevator to the tenth floor
