Mouri Ran was even more bewildered than she was. Staring at the flood of messages on her phone, she shook her head blankly.
After a frantic spell of pointless busyness, the afternoon exam began. Just before the papers were handed out, someone pushed open the classroom door—Jiang Xia had actually returned to school as if nothing had happened!
Under the varied gazes of his classmates, the Detective started the next exam without wasting a second.
Suzuki Sonoko was itching with curiosity, but she could not go over because of the exam. After barely muddling through it, the moment the bell rang to collect the papers, she immediately turned around and asked Jiang Xia what had happened.
Mouri Ran also leaned over. Remembering the Proctor's shocked expression when he had seen Jiang Xia enter, and how the Proctor had kept one earbud in to listen to the news, she could not help asking, "Did you go do something dangerous?"
Jiang Xia thought for a moment and answered honestly, "It was not exactly dangerous, but the timing was pretty tight. There should be a full news report by tonight—just watch that then. It should be better than my summary."
The person involved was being lazy and did not want to tell the story, so the two high school girls could only sigh and stop asking.
Looking out the window, Mouri Ran seemed to remember something and quietly said to her two classmates, "Come to think of it, I've had a bad feeling all day, and..."
She pointed out the window at the Trucks rumbling in and out of the school gate. "Why are there so many vehicles at school today?"
Suzuki Sonoko thought about it. "They're probably transporting table tennis tables. Isn't the Table Tennis Tournament being held in a few
