Gin tried to figure out the complicated mindset of a teenager facing a seasoned player in the field of romance, but got nowhere.

That did remind him of something else.

He had never liked lone wolves like Bourbon who refused to follow orders, so he was pleased to see Bourbon try to probe Uzo's identity, only to be played instead.

But Rum had likewise made no move in response to this situation. He was Bourbon's direct superior. As the organization's second-in-command, he had surely heard intelligence concerning Uzo. With so many elite intelligence agents under his command, his information network was extensive. Yet Rum had neither stepped in to stop this nor told Bourbon about Uzo.

Was Rum too busy to notice such "trivial matters," or had he begun to harbor doubts about Bourbon?

Or had Rum also taken an interest in Uzo's performance, to the point that he was willing to throw out an old subordinate as a touchstone for a promising newcomer?

Gin rustled through the documents in his hand.

After thinking for a moment, he took out his phone, entered the Database, and browsed the files on Peripheral Members.

...Uzo had appeared around Bourbon often enough. Judging by Bourbon's past attitude and the Detective Agency's increasingly stellar reputation, Bourbon clearly thought highly of Jiang Xia.

But on the other hand, Bourbon still showed no intention of recommending Jiang Xia as a full member. He only kept grooming him as a Detective, seemingly intending to cultivate an independent source of intelligence.

Perhaps Bourbon did not want Jiang Xia distracted by other organizational matters and unable to serve him wholeheartedly. Or perhaps this lone wolf simply did not want a partner on equal footing.

...But if this continued, what if Rum took a liking to Uzo someday,
