In a single exchange, hundreds of their comrades had been wiped out. The remaining Land of Demons Shinobi Army was shocked and enraged, but as elite troops, they showed no signs of collapsing.

"Spread out! Counterattack from range!"

At their leader's command, the Land of Demons shinobi leaped and scattered throughout the valley. This way, the enemy's area-of-effect ninjutsu could no longer inflict massive casualties as it had before.

Once they had spread out, the Land of Demons shinobi began attacking the enemy with Shurikenjutsu. This was the most common method of attack among all shinobi armies in the Shinobi World, and the Land of Demons was no exception. However, some among them used bows as well, showing that samurai still retained a certain degree of influence in this nation.

"Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh..."

A mass of ninja tools and arrows shot toward the black-clad shinobi charging forward. Their formation was not tightly packed, so the barrage completely blanketed the space above them. Even if they scattered now, it would be too late.

Yet, unexpectedly, neither the four zombie shinobi leading the charge nor the hundreds of black-clad shinobi behind them paid any heed to the incoming attacks. They continued charging along their original route as though they were willingly rushing to their deaths.

The ninja tools soon struck their targets, but something bizarre happened. Every shinobi had clearly been hit by countless weapons, yet there were no groans of metal piercing flesh, no cries of pain or screams. The ninja tools and arrows sank silently into them as if they had been fired into cotton, then fell to the ground with sharp clatters.

Before the Land of Demons shinobi could make sense of what was happening, the enemy had already charged into their ranks and begun slaughtering them.
