Obito had never expected things to become this difficult. If he struck too hard, he risked hurting Rin, but ordinary methods had no effect on her now. However powerful Space-Time Ninjutsu was, he still had to touch his target, and he could not find a way to break the barrier around Rin anytime soon.
Rin swung the trident at Obito again, unleashing a beam of white light. Obito turned intangible once more to evade it. He glanced at the path the light had taken. Everything looked as though it had been sliced apart by a sharp blade-even the ground had been cleaved open.
At that moment, Kisame Hoshigaki, who had remained quiet ever since entering, finally seized his chance. His hands flashed through hand seals as he called out, "Water Release: Great Shark Bullet Technique!" An enormous shark hurtled toward Rin. Kisame had timed it perfectly; Rin had no time to defend herself. Obito, too, recognized how precise Kisame's timing had been.
Kisame grinned. "Got you."
Yet that seemingly certain hit failed. As Rin watched the enormous shark rush toward her, an eerie smile appeared on her face. "You actually think you can use water against me? I can't tell whether you're stupid or simply ignorant. Disperse!"
The trident in Rin's hand emitted a soft blue glow. Immediately, the giant shark Kisame had unleashed broke apart into droplets of water. Both Kisame and Obito froze at the sight. Then Obito seemed to notice something and shouted, "Dodge, Kisame!"
Rin swept her trident, and the droplets left behind by the giant shark suddenly shot toward Kisame like shuriken. Hearing Obito's warning, Kisame hurried to dodge, but the droplets were far too fast. He had no time to evade them and could only swing Samehada in front of himself as a shield.
