"Aw, looks like I can't get anything else useful out of you. In that case, you might as well die!" Lu Li spread his hands. The shadows behind him gathered, transforming into a humanoid shadow creature more than twice a man's height. It charged at the Human-Faced Rat.
"I didn't expect you to choose such an unwise course of action. Accepting my proposal would bring you nothing but benefits. Humans really are a damned race," the Human-Faced Rat snarled. The black fur on his body stood on end, each strand shooting out like a spear.
He was quick. His black fur bunched together to block the darts hurled by the Shadow Assassin, while his wormlike tail swept Claw Ghost aside as it rushed in to intercept him. But Lu Li's shadow reached him, too.
The massive Shadow Giant swung a punch. Shadows swirled across its body like liquid, and its fist ballooned in an instant. The black fur on the Human-Faced Rat's body immediately stood on end, growing longer and thicker until the poor rat looked like a porcupine.
The Shadow Giant's fist was pierced with tiny holes, but the Human-Faced Rat was struck all the same. He flew backward and crashed into the wall of the classroom building, leaving a web of cracks across it. Since it was daytime, the shadows were more than twice as powerful as Lu Li. That worked out to around four units of strength—a terrifying amount.
