A Day at the Amusement Park with Na'er

A semester's time passed in the blink of an eye; the intense cultivation and coursework all came to an end, and a month-long vacation officially arrived.

The afternoon sun spilled through the floor-to-ceiling windows, warming the living room. Na'er curled up on the soft sofa, holding a soul guidance phone, her fingertips gently sliding across the screen as she watched with rapt attention.

Not long after, she looked up toward Lin Chen, who was nearby, and held out the soul guidance phone to him.

The phone was playing a popular promotional video, showing an amusement park on the outskirts of Shrek City opened by the Xuan Shi Tangmen Company.

"Brother Lin Chen, look at this," Na'er said in a soft, sweet voice, full of anticipation. "Shall we go to the amusement park?"

Seeing the look of expectation on Na'er's face, how could Lin Chen refuse? He agreed, and they set the time for the following morning.

The next day, the grand entrance of the amusement park was colorful and filled with a lively atmosphere everywhere.

Na'er wore a pure white dress, the hem adorned with delicate embroidered lace. As she walked, it swayed gently, making her look even more dainty and spirited, like a little angel who had stepped out of a fairy tale.

Lin Chen wore a simple white shirt with a sharp cut. His glazed eyes were warm and gentle in the morning light, matching the girl beside him perfectly.

Na'er looked up at the towering park gate, her eyes filled with irrepressible joy as she grabbed Lin Chen's hand and ran inside. "Let's go, let's go!"

Upon entering the amusement park, Lin Chen's gaze turned to the towering, spiraling tracks in the distance. He immediately looked at the girl beside him with a mischievous grin and suggested, "Na'er, how about we try the roller coaster first? I heard this attraction is the most fun!"

Na'er paused, her gaze shifting to the distance. The sight of the cars plunging downward made her instinctively shrink her neck, and she could faintly hear the screams of the tourists on the ride.

"Brother Lin Chen, won't it be too scary?" Na'er gripped Lin Chen's sleeve.

Lin Chen, however, looked full of confidence. "Don't worry, Na'er is the bravest. Besides, I'm here with you."

The two soon arrived at the roller coaster ticket booth. After paying cleanly and efficiently, they took their tickets, sat down, and followed the staff's instructions to fasten their seatbelts.

It wasn't hard to see that Lin Chen's expression was somewhat unnatural; a trace of timidity welled up in his heart. I kind of regret this; I've never been on a roller coaster before.

But looking at Na'er beside him, he could only force a calm facade and say, "Don't be afraid, we are very brave," as he cheered himself and Na'er on.

Na'er nodded with a determined look in her eyes. "Brother Lin Chen, we can definitely do it!"

As the vehicle slowly moved, the roller coaster finally reached the highest point, where they could clearly see the entire Shrek City, as well as the towering headquarters of the Spirit Pagoda.

He turned to look at Lin Chen, whose face no longer held the composure from when he had suggested the ride. His brows were tightly knit, his face slightly pale, and his hands gripped the safety bar in front of him tightly.

Seeing the usually "steady" and reliable Lin Chen wearing such an expression, Na'er couldn't help but burst into a giggle. "Brother Lin Chen, you look like you're really scared."

Lin Chen felt a flush of red creep up his ears at her words, and he bit the bullet to argue, "How could I be scared? The wind is just a bit strong, you know."

No sooner had he spoken than the roller coaster plunged downward. A strong sense of weightlessness swept over his entire body. He instinctively gasped, wanting to scream, but his throat felt as if it were being throttled, so he could only increase his grip on the safety bar.

Na'er watched him try to force an argument, her eyes curving into crescents as she laughed, her bell-like laughter scattering into the wind.

The long and thrilling journey finally reached its end. As the roller coaster slowly came to a stop, Lin Chen felt his whole body go limp, his legs barely able to stand, and he swore never to ride this attraction again.

He was helped down by Na'er. The two walked to a quiet, secluded corner with few tourists, and Lin Chen could no longer maintain his facade of composure. He rushed to the corner of a wall and bent over, dry-heaving.

Na'er hurried over to follow him, gently patting his back. Her purple eyes were filled with worry, the earlier mirth vanished, and she spoke softly to comfort him: "Brother Lin Chen, are you okay?"

Lin Chen felt slightly better, but he still responded to Na'er weakly: "I'm better now. Na'er, can you keep this a secret?" The sensation from moments ago flooded his mind again, and he dry-heaved for a while before continuing.

"Na'er, help me keep this secret. Don't tell Uncle Zhuo Shi and the others. If they find out, they'll definitely make fun of me."

Na'er nodded vigorously at once, patting her chest in assurance: "Don't worry, Brother Lin Chen, this is our secret. I absolutely won't tell them!"

Having received Na'er's promise, Lin Chen finally breathed a sigh of relief. After resting for a long while, his complexion slowly returned to normal.

He looked at Na'er beside him and forced himself to perk up. "Alright, Na'er, let's go play something else."

Na'er immediately revealed a bright smile, nodding as she took the initiative to pull Lin Chen toward a more bustling area of the amusement park.

The two soon arrived at the amusement park's artificial lake, where, as far as the eye could see, various small boats were moving slowly across the water.

Before long, Na'er sat on the edge of the boat, tilting her head slightly. The warm sunlight made her look like a fairy, her purple eyes gazing into the distance, occasionally glancing back at Lin Chen.

Lin Chen took out his soul guidance phone, his gaze fixed on the girl. Click, he froze the moment in time.

He changed angles repeatedly, taking several photos—some of Na'er turning her head in profile, others of her reaching out to touch the water.

"Na'er, look, my photography skills are pretty good, right?" Lin Chen held the phone out to her.

Na'er leaned in curiously, looking at herself in the photos, her cheeks flushing slightly. "Brother Lin Chen's photography skills are amazing, thank you!"

Before they knew it, noon had arrived. The warm sun spilled onto them, and Lin Chen and Na'er, each holding a freshly bought ice cream cone, arrived in front of a claw machine.

"Eh? Brother Lin Chen, let me win a doll for you!" Na'er's eyes lit up, a trace of ice cream still lingering at the corner of her mouth.

Lin Chen agreed and took Na'er to the service desk to exchange some game tokens, handing them all to Na'er once they were ready.

Na'er took the heavy pile of tokens, her face full of excitement. She quickly inserted one into the claw machine, her eyes locked tightly on the small Azure Dragon doll inside the glass cabinet.

As she pressed the button, the mechanical claw slowly descended, precisely gripping the body of the Azure Dragon doll and lifting it steadily.

Accompanied by the sound of the object dropping, Na'er succeeded. She immediately bent down to retrieve the small Azure Dragon doll, holding it carefully in her hand as she walked quickly to Lin Chen and handed it over, her eyes filled with anticipation and joy.

"Brother Lin Chen, for you!"

Lin Chen reached out to take the doll and raised his hand to stroke Na'er's hair. "Thank you for your hard work, Na'er. I really like it."

As evening approached, Lin Chen carried Na'er on his back, walking step by step toward home. Perhaps tired from playing, Na'er rested on Lin Chen's back, her breathing gradually becoming steady and rhythmic.
