The casualties at Yugakure weren't that severe. According to its leader, they had only suffered one attack.
Tobirama couldn't help feeling uneasy about that, so he personally examined every wounded shinobi.
This was a great opportunity to win people over. They absolutely couldn't let it slip by.
With time short, Tobirama had the people from Konoha leave behind a supply of pills and turned down their request to send members along to help in the battle.
There was still a long way to go before they could return, and now was no time to slack off. Tobirama hurriedly led everyone away, heading for the Land of Cedar.
"Chief! Stop staring—they're all gone!" A wounded shinobi with a bandage wrapped around his forehead approached the man who was still gazing into the distance. He swallowed one of Konoha's specially made pills and mumbled, "I never thought the nobles we usually looked down on would have such formidable strength."
The leader of Yugakure shot him an exasperated look, then stepped forward and tightened his loosened bandage. "They must have their reasons for lasting this long. Otherwise, their subordinates would've overthrown them ages ago."
"I heard Tobirama say that the other Hidden Villages were attacked a second time on their way back."
The leader frowned slightly at the crowd gathering around him. At least the shinobi responsible for keeping watch hadn't joined in.
Otherwise, he would've given them an earful.
Even though they'd only suffered minor injuries, they still couldn't let their guard down.
He narrowed his eyes at the stream winding through the distant mountains and said in a low voice, "Looks like someone wants to muddy the waters."
Tobirama had noticed the same thing on the way to provide reinforcements.
