The Soul Beast was an enormous Flying Sand Rock Bear, with thick limbs and a back covered in gray-brown rock armor. Just from its size, it was a head larger than an ordinary thousand-year Soul Beast.
Four thousand two hundred years was exactly the breakthrough opportunity he needed to reach level forty.
But the fight was far from as easy as he'd imagined.
The Flying Sand Rock Bear brought one paw down. Dai Mubai raised his first Soul Skill, White Tiger Protection Barrier, but the impact sent him stumbling back five or six steps, his feet plowing two furrows through the mud.
"Mubai, watch its right forepaw! That one's stronger!" Tang San called from the side.
"Yeah, no kidding! I know!"
Dai Mubai cursed as he ducked beneath its second strike.
White Tiger Vajra Transformation surged through him. His muscles swelled, and tiger stripes appeared across his body. He slammed a fist into the Flying Sand Rock Bear's stomach, his knuckles striking its layer of rock armor with a dull thud.
The Flying Sand Rock Bear took half a step back.
Just half a step.
Dai Mubai's wrist went numb. He cursed under his breath. This damned thing's defense was so hard it was like punching iron.
"Come on, Boss Dai!" Ma Hongjun cheered from behind. "Want me to give it a couple of blasts?"
"Shut up and keep your eyes open!"
Dai Mubai gritted his teeth and charged again.
His fighting style had always been to hit hard and charge headlong. With White Tiger Vajra Transformation active, all his attributes were maxed out, and his speed had caught up too.
Three punches in a row struck the same spot on the Flying Sand Rock Bear. On the third, he finally heard the crisp crack of its rock armor breaking.
