Seven waves of overwhelming Soul Power ignited the entire arena.
Every member of the Martial Soul Hall Team—all seven of them—held nothing back.
Xie Yue crossed his hands, and two blood-red blades shaped like crescent moons burst with dazzling light.
He became a red streak, charging straight for Gu Sheng's face.
It was his self-created skill, carrying a sharpness that could rend anything apart.
Hu Liena stood at the rear of the team, her body enveloped in a rich pink glow.
Visible waves of enchantment rippled like water, locking onto Gu Sheng's Sea of Consciousness.
Yan let out a roar that shook the heavens and earth, his whole body cloaked in dark-red magma.
His enormous flaming fist carried terrifying heat, warping the air around it until it shimmered and twisted.
Sun Chuantao's circular blade spun rapidly through the air, letting out a piercing sonic boom.
Li Kai used Martial Soul Possession. He became like a rampaging beast, shattering the flagstones beneath his feet as he barreled forward.
Zhang Ping moved with lithe grace, becoming an elusive shadow as she silently circled toward the flank.
At the rear, Xu Yu swung his radiant golden scepter. One amplification halo after another settled over his teammates, while countless Hidden Weapons burst from his sleeves.
The seven worked together seamlessly, their attacks sealing off Gu Sheng from every direction.
The team's instructor, who had retreated outside the arena, had already shut his eyes in despair.
Against such concentrated fire, forget a level-twenty Soul Grandmaster.
Even a defensive Soul Emperor standing here would be blasted to pieces in an instant.
"It's over."
That was the only thought left in the instructor's mind.
But what happened next exceeded everyone's understanding.
Xie Yue's Moon Blade arrived first. The blade, sharp enough to cut through tempered steel, slashed viciously toward Gu Sheng's neck.
There was no spray of blood, nor the dull sound of a blade sinking into flesh.
The Moon Blade passed straight through Gu Sheng without resistance, as if it had cut through empty air.
His swing carried so much force that Xie Yue's arm, along with the Moon Blade and his entire body, passed right through Gu Sheng.
Xie Yue's pupils shrank to pinpoints in an instant.
How was this possible?
Before Xie Yue could steady himself, Yan's attack arrived.
His enormous flaming fist slammed into Gu Sheng's chest.
It met no resistance at all.
Yan felt as if he had punched into a vacuum. The immense momentum sent him pitching forward.
His massive body passed through Gu Sheng. He stumbled, nearly face-planting on the ground.
Hu Liena's enchantment wave followed close behind.
The pink mental assault struck Gu Sheng squarely between the brows.
But Hu Liena's sensation was even more bizarre.
Her mental power had clearly touched its target, yet it felt as though it had touched nothing at all.
The other's Sea of Consciousness was completely empty. She couldn't even stir a ripple.
Sun Chuantao's giant blade passed through.
Li Kai's charge missed.
Zhang Ping's claws tore through an afterimage.
Xu Yu's Hidden Weapons pierced through Gu Sheng like an illusion and all embedded themselves in the wall behind him.
Every attack hit.
Every attack passed through.
Every attack missed.
An utterly bizarre scene unfolded on the arena.
The seven had launched a fearsome killing strike, yet they hadn't even damaged a corner of Gu Sheng's clothes.
Gu Sheng still stood there quietly.
From beginning to end, he hadn't raised a hand—not even once.
His posture was straight, his gaze indifferent.
"Are you done?"
His calm voice rang through the spacious training ground. It wasn't loud, but everyone heard it clearly.
Xie Yue whipped around.
He stared at Gu Sheng's back, shock and disbelief filling his eyes.
Yan steadied himself and turned around, his expression as if he'd seen a ghost.
"Keep going."
Gu Sheng didn't turn around. He merely uttered two words, offhandedly.
Those two words were like a resounding slap across the face of the Spirit Hall Golden Generation.
Yan had the shortest fuse of them all. How could he stand being ignored like this?
"Quit playing tricks!"
Yan roared. The magma covering his body erupted, and he charged at Gu Sheng again like a raging bull.
This time, he pushed every last ounce of his Soul Power to its limit. The flames around his fist had turned almost pure white.
Watching Yan charge toward him,
Gu Sheng finally moved.
He slowly turned around and gently raised his right hand.
He curled his index finger slightly and pointed it at the oncoming Yan.
A beam of pure Aurora blazed to life at his fingertip.
Boom—!
A seven-colored beam, as thick as a bowl, shot from Gu Sheng's fingertip.
It was so fast that Yan didn't have time to react.
The Aurora struck Yan squarely in the chest without any flourish.
His armor of rock-hard molten lava crumbled instantly before the Aurora, as if it were made of paper.
Yan's massive body flew backward.
He traced a long arc through the air.
With a bloodcurdling scream, Yan crashed hard into the edge of the Martial Arts Arena, raising a cloud of dust.
Gu Sheng didn't even glance at Yan.
He turned slightly and casually flicked his left hand outward.
Li Kai had just used Yan as cover to charge within striking distance. He hadn't even had time to unleash a Soul Skill.
Another beam of Aurora burst from Gu Sheng's palm.
Li Kai was struck as if by lightning. He flew through the air like a kite with its strings cut and rolled more than a dozen times across the ground before coming to a stop.
Just then, a breeze swept past behind Gu Sheng.
Relying on her extraordinary agility, Zhang Ping had quietly circled into Gu Sheng's blind spot.
A cold glint flashed in her eyes as her sharp claws raked toward the back of Gu Sheng's neck.
It was as if Gu Sheng had eyes in the back of his head.
He shifted his feet slightly and took half a step to the side with effortless ease.
Zhang Ping's claws barely grazed Gu Sheng's skin.
Just as Zhang Ping's first wave of strength faded and before she could summon another,
Aurora erupted at close range around Gu Sheng.
Its terrifying force slammed into Zhang Ping's chest without holding back.
She flew backward like a cannonball.
Bang!
Zhang Ping smashed into a thick stone pillar at the edge of the Martial Arts Arena.
Web-like cracks instantly spread across the pillar's hard surface.
She slid down to the ground, a large amount of blood spilling from the corner of her mouth. Her eyes rolled back, and she passed out.
A shrill whistle tore through the air.
Sun Chuantao's circular blade flew from his hand again, spinning wildly as it hurtled toward Gu Sheng with lethal intent.
Gu Sheng remained calm and didn't dodge.
He reached out his right hand and grabbed for the rapidly spinning blade.
"Suicidal!"
A ruthless glint flashed in Sun Chuantao's eyes.
But in the next instant, his expression froze.
Gu Sheng caught the edge of the circular blade firmly in his hand. Its rapidly spinning edge stopped dead, without even nicking his skin.
Brilliant Aurora flowed from Gu Sheng's palm and poured into the giant blade.
In the distance, Sun Chuantao felt an irresistible wave of heat surge back along his Soul Power.
His hands were in agony. He could no longer maintain the invisible connection.
The giant blade slipped from his control.
