That mage's Profession had been converted into that of a Territory Mage. He had originally belonged to the Elemental School, but for some reason, his specialization had vanished after becoming a Territory Mage.
This fell within Fran's blind spot of knowledge. When Elan had changed Professions, he had never mentioned losing his Law School specialization, had he?
Or perhaps Territory Mages were actually compatible with Law School specializations, since they still used the Law School spell [Self-Establishment Decree].
That required deeper experimentation. Professions had always been the continent's foremost problem. Even mages who had studied them for centuries could not claim to understand every circumstance.
Powerful mental force poured into the spell model of Fireball. A ring of slightly oversized fireballs was hurled at the ground, scattering flames everywhere.
"So he really did lose the Elemental School specialization..." If he had retained the Elemental School trait, the fireballs would not have dispersed immediately upon striking something solid. Instead, they would have attempted to melt through the object before them and continued onward, only exploding when ordered by the mage or when they struck something exceptionally hard.
Judging by the confused expression on the casting mage's face, he truly no longer possessed that trait.
The mages stared at the scorched pit in the ground, their faces displaying surprise, concern, and joy alike.
Though there was now a problem with the Territory Mage Profession, they had at least successfully converted one mage's Profession. That was invaluable experience for the Territory Mage Working Group.
However, Eleanor turned her head toward Fran at that moment. Even without saying anything, everyone knew what she wanted to ask.
"I didn't learn about this from that former Law School mage. I specifically asked him about every change..."
Fran still leaned
