Talking to a Demon (Part 2)

"A demon." Based on The Alliance's records, Fran barely managed to identify what the monster before her was.

It was even a High Demon. According to The Alliance's pitifully sparse records, only High Demons could communicate with people.

That meant this demon was at least a third-tier existence in the Abyss—perhaps even higher.

Fran did not know its exact rank. Due to The Alliance's Knowledge Control, she only knew that some High Demons could scatter part of their consciousness across the continent.

Those demons would then begin luring people into transactions, obtaining the sustenance needed to act upon the continent.

The matter of demons enticing people into deals had been common knowledge for an unknown length of time, even before The Alliance was founded.

Demons would lure people into transactions, then take over the trader's body. Storybooks could come up with over a dozen different versions of that tale.

Almost everyone knew that, which made things difficult for demons. There was basically no one left on the continent who did not know that making a deal with a demon was a bad choice.

It was unlike when demons had first appeared on the continent. Back then, ignorant people were everywhere, and the demons had deceived people to their hearts' content.

But that would not work now. Unless they had absolutely no other choice, people would never believe a single word a demon said.

Even when someone made a deal with a demon, they either had countermeasures like David, or they had nearly nothing left and came begging demons for help.

That made demons' performance extremely poor. Even the cleverest among them did far worse than before.

As a result, demons' activities on the continent began to decrease, and The Alliance had presumably decided there was no longer any need to
