The demon's tone was somewhat urgent. It really could not hold back anymore.

Only then did Fran speak softly.

"What can you give me?"

"What?!"

"It's mine. I decide what to do with it. If you want to talk to me about this thing, you'll have to offer additional payment."

Even the demon's nonexistent brain seemed to crash. It felt that it had never encountered a mage like this before.

How was Fran still acting as though nothing had happened and demanding payment from it after it had made clear that this was a high-end item from the Abyss?

Logically, once a mage realized this was something valuable, the first thought they would probably have would be to keep it for themselves and simply abandon the demon.

At this point, the demon could only gamble. It gambled that Fran had no way of finding clues besides it to learn the Black Stone Slab's exact method of use.

In truth, it did not know whether The Alliance had collected relevant information, or whether any demons had revealed the crucial point that the slab represented their power.

So this was a gamble. It had to gamble. This was its chance to rise in a single step, and the mage before it was not easy to deal with either.

It gambled that Fran needed it to obtain the Black Stone Slab's true method of use.
