Snow and ice were swept into it and ground to powder. The roar within the vortex sounded like the bellow of a giant beast, chilling the heart.
Lin Yue took a deep breath and fearlessly stepped into the unknown danger, lifting her foot over the threshold of the ice cave. She moved cautiously, as if walking on thin ice, leaning forward with her center of gravity lowered, ready to respond to any sudden threat.
As she approached the energy vortex, its fluctuations struck with increasing force. Though she felt small, there was no fear in her eyes. She rapidly formed hand seals and chanted an incantation, summoning the power of the Ice Soul. A crystalline Ice Blue Shield formed around her, its runes flashing like dancing sprites to strengthen her defense.
When she was only dozens of meters from the vortex, it suddenly emitted a blinding light that shot toward her like a sword. Lin Yue dodged sideways and, at the same time, condensed the power of the Ice Soul into an Ice Arrow, firing it at the source of the light. The arrow whistled through the silence, but the light shattered it with ease and continued toward her. Daring not to be careless, Lin Yue pushed the power of the Ice Soul to its limit. Her hands spun rapidly before her chest, forming a giant Ice Ball. Chilling air poured from it, freezing the air into mist. With a loud shout, she thrust the Ice Ball toward the light.
The Ice Ball and the light collided in midair with an ear-splitting boom. Energy rippled outward, sending snow and ice flying several meters into the air. Lin Yue staggered back several steps but managed to stay on her feet. Her gaze remained resolute; she knew the battle had only just begun.
As the energy fluctuations dissipated, a figure emerged from the vortex, shrouded in light. Its features and form were impossible to make out, but its aura marked it as the source of the fluctuations. Lin Yue's heart raced. After a moment's hesitation, Lin Yue said, "You Ying, I can consider going with you, but I need time to prepare. I also want you to show me information about the Star Realm and the Source of Stars, so I can understand your purpose and the risks."
You Ying smiled. "All right, Lin Yue. I'll wait outside the ice cave for your answer. In the meantime, I'll show you the wonders of the Star Realm and tell you the legends of the Source of Stars, so you can look forward to the journey."
With that, You Ying withdrew, his figure disappearing into the darkness of the Ice Plain. Lin Yue watched in the direction he had vanished, her feelings complicated. Faced with a major decision, she took a deep breath and returned to the ice cave, where she could quietly consider the road ahead.
