Re-entering the Abyss

An ancient character for "North" was engraved on the token, its strokes vigorous and powerful, faintly radiating the law fluctuations of extreme cold.

"People of the Northern Abyss Frost Domain never accept favors from others." Hanche handed the token to Chu Ming, his gaze solemn. "We will remember this debt of gratitude. If you ever have need of us in the future, just say the word, and the entire Northern Abyss Frost Domain will move for you."

Chu Ming accepted the token and tucked it into his robes.

He did not refuse.

He walked over to Venerable Lingfeng.

Lingfeng accepted the jade slip and carefully put it away.

He looked at Chu Ming and said only four words. "Wait for your return."

Chu Ming nodded.

He walked toward Qingwei and Thunder Splendor.

Qingwei accepted the jade slip and gazed deeply at him.

That look lasted a long, long time.

Her lips parted, as though she wanted to say something.

But in the end, she only said two words.

"Be careful."

Chu Ming looked at her and nodded.

Thunder Splendor accepted the jade slip. He wanted to say something, but Chu Ming raised a hand to stop him.

"No need to say more."

Thunder Splendor opened his mouth, then swallowed the words back down.

Chu Ming gave the seven of them one last look.

Then he turned around.

He looked toward the Myriad Laws Platform.

That mass of darkness had grown so dense it seemed almost ready to drip.

The gray-black clouds hung incredibly low now, so low they seemed within arm's reach.

Within the clouds, strange bolts of lightning flickered faintly. They were not the usual silvery white, but pitch-black, filthy lightning carrying the aura of the abyss.

In the distance, the roars of the abyssal creatures had ceased.
