Function in Cultivation
Soul Power is the energy circulated and refined by Soul Masters. It produces the pressure felt from powerful cultivators, fuels Martial Soul abilities, and determines how long or intensely certain Soul Skills can be used. Ling Han's uncontrolled Innate Level 20 Soul Power is described as violent without Soul Rings to guide it 2.
Soul Rings
Soul Rings guide Soul Power and grant Soul Skills. Absorbing a sufficiently powerful ring can produce large increases in cultivation, as shown when Ling Han's Second Soul Ring raises him to Level 25 and grants Dragon Emperor Power 11.
- Higher Soul Ring years improve the potency of Soul Skills and the user's physical abilities 253.
- A Soul Ring's age can be raised without directly increasing a user's Soul Power level; Ling Han's system rewards increase the year limits of all four of his rings by 50,000 years each 253.
- The output of Soul Power affects the duration of Ling Han's active Dragon Emperor Power enhancement 11.
- Ling Han's blue-gold Third Soul Ring can reflect and strengthen enemy Soul Skills, but using it against a Super Douluo-level technique places an immense burden on both his Soul Power and spiritual power 168.
Soul Bones
Soul Bones can amplify Soul Power, strengthen the body, and provide additional abilities.
- Ling Han's fusion with the Fire and Ice Dragon King Soul Bones raises his Soul Power from Level 30 to Level 35 37.
- High-level Soul Bone abilities demand immense reserves. Wang Dong'er's torso Soul Bone skill requires an “astronomical” amount of Soul Power even at Level 96 230.
- Ling Han's absorption of the 150,000-year Abyssal Ice Dragon King Soul Ring and Soul Bone raises him six levels at once, from Level 40 to Level 46 147.
System Augmentation
The Myriad Realms Supreme Summoning System can directly affect Soul Power progression.
- Ling Han begins with Innate Level 20 Soul Power as part of his novice reward 2.
- A Top-tier Soul Power Boost Scroll can raise a Level 91–98 Titled Douluo by one level, ignore bottlenecks, and avoid harming the recipient's potential 89.
- System rewards can also improve Soul Ring year limits, increasing the strength of existing skills without requiring a new Soul Power breakthrough 253.
Rank Designations
| Designation | Documented example |
|---|---|
| Soul Ancestor | Ling Han is identified as a Level 46 Soul Ancestor 224. |
| Soul King | Level 50 is described as the barrier into the Soul King realm 282. |
| Soul Douluo | Tuoba Xi is a Level 89 Soul Douluo; other prominent Soul Douluos are recorded at Levels 86–88 240 244. |
| Titled Douluo | Qi Xue is summoned as a Level 93 Titled Douluo 71. |
| Super Douluo | Xue Qinglan is Level 96 when summoned and reaches peak Level 97 after fusing the Ice Phoenix Left Arm Bone 2 13. |
| Limit Douluo | Long Xiaoyao is summoned as a Level 99 Limit Douluo 292. |
Soul Core
Ling Han forms a Soul Core while attempting to break through the Level 50 barrier. His Extreme Ice and Extreme Power clash within his dantian, threatening to damage his cultivation foundation. His blue-gold Third Soul Ring responds independently, sending an ice pattern into his dantian that suppresses and compresses the conflicting forces 283.
The completed Soul Core changes his Soul Power from a dispersed flow into a condensed, purified core. It improves stability, precision, efficiency, and the speed with which he can release Ice Hell Dragon Emperor Soul Power 283.
- The process requires control and endurance; Ling Han experiences persistent pain as his Soul Power and meridians are compressed and remolded 283.
- The Ice Dragon King's power acts as the mediator between Ling Han's opposing Extreme Ice and Extreme Power attributes 283.
- The Soul Core allows Ling Han to release power in a more concentrated and controlled form rather than wasting it through inefficient output 283.
Limitations
- High-output Soul Skills can rapidly deplete Soul Power and spiritual power, even for Ling Han's unusually strong foundation 168.
- Soul Power exhaustion can leave even peak experts weakened; Qian Renliu is left exhausted and shaken after his battle with Long Xiaoyao 302.
- A large gap in the quality and quantity of Soul Power separates major cultivation ranks, particularly between Soul Sages and Soul Emperors 264.
- Opposing attributes can endanger a Soul Master's cultivation if they cannot be balanced, as Ling Han's Extreme Ice and Extreme Power nearly shatter his dantian before the formation of his Soul Core 283.
