Rain seemed to drift down from the night sky. In a small park, overgrown with weeds and on the verge of demolition, Chen Ge met a strange woman.
"Excuse me, do you know Fang Yu?"
The woman seemed to know only that one sentence. She looked at Chen Ge with clear eyes like a lake on a plateau, utterly unclouded.
"Fang Yu?" Chen Ge took out the photograph and handed it to her. "Is this him?"
Holding the photograph in both hands, the woman gazed at the boy in it for a long, long time, then shook her head. "I don't know."
"This photo was taken in the park. The boy was facing the camera, and the photographer was standing right here." Chen Ge got up and walked over to the fountain. "You really don't remember anything?"
The woman stood where she was, her eyes full of confusion.
"All right. Maybe I got it wrong." Chen Ge returned to the bench. A while later, the woman sat down beside him.
She smelled of shampoo, and her clothes were clean. She didn't look like someone incapable of living on her own.
"Um... could I ask you something?" Chen Ge looked at the woman. Her profile was beautiful, but her cheeks were covered in tattoos. Even as they took your breath away, they also inspired a trace of fear.
"Why do you come here in the middle of the night to look for Fang Yu?"
"I think I come here every day, but I don't know why."
"Do you know this park is going to be torn down? You might not be able to come here anymore." Chen Ge held the photograph and watched her closely.
She didn't answer. She stared blankly at the name tattooed on the back of her hand.
