Once all the strands of Curse had disappeared, the man lay face-down on the floor. He was thin and gaunt, and didn't look very old—he seemed to have only just reached adulthood.
"Can you hear me?" Chen Ge crouched in front of the man. After escaping the Curse, his body had grown hazy, as if he might vanish at any moment. "I didn't come to save you purely out of kindness. Someone asked me to find you."
The man's eyes remained closed. It was as if he had been through something like this before—only back then, someone had deceived him. Now, he had given up hope.
"Fang
