The math teacher couldn't get the words he'd prepared out of his mouth. He glared at Chen Ge for a while, then slapped his ruler down on the podium. "Sit down. Stop looking out the window. Du Ming, come up and solve the problem."

Round-faced Chubby Boy walked up to the podium while Chen Ge felt his backpack. Everything here feels far too normal. Something's wrong. There has to be a problem.

At long last, class ended. Chen Ge stopped Round-faced Chubby Boy and led him to a quiet corner of the school.

"What are you doing? You don't have to make such a big deal out of asking to copy my homework."

"I want to ask you about a few things. You have to answer me honestly." Chen Ge pointed at himself. "What kind of person do you think I am?"

"Lonely, sharp-tongued, unpopular, and a lousy student." Round-faced Chubby Boy counted them off on his fingers, one by one.

"Have I really had such a terrible image in your mind all this time?" Chen Ge looked at the familiar round face. He knew the other boy was telling the truth, but it still didn't make him happy.

"You're not that bad."

Round-faced Chubby Boy had no idea how dangerous his situation was.

"Fine. Different question. Have there been any spooky stories at our school? Like an empty classroom where strange noises come from at night, or specimens that move on their own?"

Chen Ge looked eager to know, and Round-faced Chubby Boy couldn't bring himself to refuse. He took a report card from his backpack and handed it to Chen Ge.

"Why are you showing me this?" Chen Ge took the report card and spotted Du Ming's name in second place for the class.
