Luo Ruoyu was the Guardian Spirit of New Century Park and Chen Ge's childhood playmate.
They had grown up together, and Chen Ge's parents had treated Luo Ruoyu like their own daughter. This nonexistent member of the family had received no less love than Chen Ge.
Luo Ruoyu usually hid inside the ragdoll Chen Ge had made as a child. Later, at East Suburb Reservoir, she had taken a hit meant for Chen Ge and been severely wounded. If she left New Century Park, she would lose all her abilities.
Chen Ge hadn't expected to encounter Luo Ruoyu behind Yu Jian's Door, much less in this form.
"Dinner's ready."
The man emptied the pig's trotters into two bowls, then stir-fried a few dishes. At first, the atmosphere at the table had been rather serious, but at some point, everything had turned warm and cozy.
Both Chen Ge and the man were smiling. Maybe this was what it felt like to be family.
"Chen Ge, why did you come home so late today? Was it because your exam results were so bad you didn't dare come home?" The man barely touched the pig's trotters and kept eating the vegetables. He looked much older than he really was.
"No." Chen Ge didn't know how to explain. The closer someone was to him, the harder it was to open up. He didn't want his father to think he was a strange man. Maybe it was better to preserve this false sense of warmth.
After stretching, Chen Ge glanced toward the inner room. He didn't answer the man's question, instead casually asking, "Where's Mom? Why haven't I seen her?"
