"I'm afraid? What do I have to be afraid of?" The middle-aged man's expression turned a little unnatural. He couldn't understand where Chen Ge got his confidence.
"I'm helping everyone investigate the killer, but you keep trying to change the subject. Do you know something you haven't told us?" Chen Ge narrowed his eyes. "The killer had just left through the sixth-floor window. He couldn't have gotten far. He must be hiding somewhere on the fifth, sixth, or seventh floor. If we'd started searching those three floors first, there would've been a good chance of catching him. But you told everyone to look for the landlord first."
Chen Ge was using a little rhetorical trick here. The middle-aged man had merely suggested looking for the landlord, but Chen Ge went straight to accusing him of telling everyone to go.
"The landlord lives on the ninth floor, far from the crime scene. I suspect you deliberately led us away to buy the killer time."
"Bullshit! Don't believe his Ghost Talk!"
"You led us to the ninth floor, and you seemed to know the landlord had already been killed. You knew nobody would answer the door. We wasted nearly half an hour trying to break through the security door. That was more than enough time for the real killer to clean the blood off himself." Every word Chen Ge spoke stabbed into the middle-aged man like a knife. "I don't want to suspect you, but this is all too much of a coincidence. It's almost as if you deliberately helped the real killer buy time."
The neighbors' gazes toward the middle-aged man gradually turned hostile.
"Listen to me! I had no idea the landlord had been killed! If I'd known, I never would've brought it up now!" The middle-aged man argued desperately.
