"There are three and a half hours until dark. Before nightfall, we have to find out everywhere Dr. Fang went before he disappeared!"
Chen Ge was firm. With Old Wu beside him, anyone who didn't know better would have thought Chen Ge was a police officer and Old Wu was just his driver.
"We have to investigate before dark? Do you have something else to do tonight?" Old Wu asked in confusion as he drove.
"This city isn't safe at night."
"Xinhai has the best public security in Central-South China. Some of the commercial districts here are open twenty-four hours a day. They call this place a city that never sleeps." Old Wu gripped the steering wheel. "You young people should know all this better than I do."
Chen Ge smiled but didn't explain.
Twenty minutes later, they arrived at Xinhai Second Hospital.
Xinhai had eleven top-tier hospitals in all. Second Hospital, where Dr. Fang worked, ranked among the best and was located in the city's busiest district.
"Hello, I'd like to ask about someone." Chen Ge and Old Wu, who was wearing his police uniform, approached the hospital reception desk. The nurse on duty hadn't wanted to deal with Chen Ge, but when she saw Old Wu's uniform, her attitude improved considerably.
With the nurse on duty accompanying them, Chen Ge went to the Otolaryngology Department, where a doctor was examining a patient.
"Dr. Fang hasn't been to work for many days. I don't know the details. The doctor in there is Dr. Zhao, Dr. Fang's colleague and close friend. He should know something." The nurse on duty left after speaking. Chen Ge and Old Wu waited until Dr. Zhao had finished examining the patient before entering the room.
"Which of you is the patient?" Dr. Zhao was busy.
