Intricate patterns flowed across the walls as Chen Ge slowly pushed open the pitch-black window.
A gust of yin energy blew toward him. Chen Ge narrowed his eyes slightly, his back muscles tensing as he held the window open.

Chen Ge knew that feeling well. His pupils slowly contracted as he began to examine the new scene before him.
Beyond the window was a Japanese-style room, with furniture and decorations to match. But those weren't the important part. What really caught Chen Ge's attention were the walls.
All four walls were covered in Blood Handprints. The ceiling light flickered on and off, and beneath the square lamp lay the scattered bodies of moths. Beside them were marks left by burning candles, as though someone had stood beneath the light and slowly burned the moths' wings with a candle.
When the door to the new scene opened, the scene behind Chen Ge changed.
Blood seeped down from the ceiling. The hallway door was pushed, and footsteps seemed to come from outside.
Before the visitors could react, the door between the living room and the hallway shut. A girl's laughter sounded outside, as though the child were standing right there.
"Did she come looking for her Rag Doll?" Chen Ge felt that, as a grown man, stealing a child's toy wasn't exactly right. But when he remembered that he was going to save her and help her escape her misery, the pressure in his heart eased considerably.
"Chen Ge, I've been in this scene before." At first, he had treated Chen Ge with open hostility, but his attitude had gradually changed without him realizing it. He hadn't noticed it himself, perhaps because he was genuinely afraid now.
