Background / History

During the Sea God Pavilion's deliberation over Lin Yun, Mu En ruled that Lin should not be executed merely for possessing a Martial Soul with an evil aura. He arranged for Lin Yun to enter Shrek Academy's Outer Court and assigned Yan Shaozhe to obtain his first soul ring, hoping Lin might reveal whether a Martial Soul truly shaped its wielder's heart. 1

Mu En later met Lin Yun outside the freshman dormitories, where he was posing as the dormitory supervisor while resting in a recliner. Their conversation became a pointed exchange over Shrek's semi-closed environment and the loss of vitality among its students. Mu En acknowledged the concern but told Lin Yun to return with both an answer and a solution once his perspective had broadened. 6

He recruited Lin Yun for the investigation into missing students in Flying Star City. After Lin Yun negotiated aggressively, Mu En provided a two-thousand-year Earth Wind Pseudo-Dragon external soul bone with a teleportation skill as payment, alongside a venom-fang scimitar for protection. 11

When their long-range communicator was destroyed in Flying Star City, Mu En's memories concerning the device and its purpose were erased, despite his status as a Limit Douluo. 12

After Lin Yun returned with evidence concerning the Heaven Spirit Empire, Mu En ordered Lin Yun and Zhang Lexuan to conduct a soul hunt and act against the perpetrators with Shrek's authority. 17

Personality

Mu En initially presents himself as merciful and reflective. His decision to spare Lin Yun rests on the principle that a person without committed atrocities should not be condemned for their Martial Soul alone. 1

He is also highly pragmatic. He treats Lin Yun's unusual talent as both an opportunity and a risk, repeatedly testing him through assignments, rewards, and conversations. When Lin Yun challenged Shrek's stagnation, Mu En neither dismissed him nor accepted the criticism outright; instead, he demanded a viable solution. 6

Despite his benevolent manner, Mu En is willing to manipulate others to secure Lin Yun's loyalty. He arranged for Zhang Lexuan to spend time with Lin Yun as a means of tying the gifted student to Shrek, an arrangement Lin Yun later identifies as calculated and underhanded. 16 29
