Training in Senjutsu

After arriving in Shikkotsu Forest, Xuanye looked around.

It was a world shrouded in thick white mist all year round. Visibility was less than five meters, far worse than in the Hidden Mist Village.

Xuanye tried looking through his Sharingan, but even with the Three-Tomoe activated, he could barely see any farther through the mist.

Despite its name, Shikkotsu Forest had none of the trees one would expect in a forest.

Tall, pale stone walls surrounded him. Their color made them look more like calcium, the main component of human bone.

Every mountain, ravine, and stretch of ground in Shikkotsu Forest had formed from a special secretion of Katsuyu's body that had accumulated and hardened.

Xuanye reached out to touch a wall. It did feel a little sticky.

No wonder the place was called Shikkotsu Forest.

Its light came from translucent fungi and moss. Some of the fungi stood over ten meters tall, casting a faint, cool glow through the dense mist and driving it back.

But this was not the kind of Natural Energy that would petrify someone who breathed it in. Katsuyu had altered it, bringing it closer to Senjutsu Chakra.

In this environment, an ordinary person's wounds would slowly heal, and they might even live longer.

That was what set Shikkotsu Forest apart from the other two Sacred Lands. Its Senjutsu was gentler, and Katsuyu took better care of those who had signed a contract with her.
