Kisame Hoshigaki Loses His Mind

Xuanye ignored Deidara for the moment and looked at Itachi's right eye. It was visibly much cloudier than his left.

"What on earth did you do? How did you burn through so much ocular power?"

One use nearly blinded you in one eye. Even Uchiha Sasuke wasn't this reckless.

Itachi answered honestly. "When I fought Kisame Hoshigaki, I used Tsukuyomi on him inside a Tsukuyomi illusion. I made him live different lives in different worlds. It consumed too much ocular power."

He had always wanted to imitate the move Lord Hokage had used back then, the one that left people unable to distinguish illusion from reality, even trapping them in a false reality.

Even now that he had awakened his Mangekyō, the memory of that move still unsettled him.

So when he faced the Akatsuki Organization, the impulse struck him to try replicating it.

Tsukuyomi fell somewhere between Mirror Flower, Water Moon and Infinite Tsukuyomi. It could not quite achieve what either did, but if he ignored the cost in ocular power and forced it, he could reproduce a special effect similar to Limited Tsukuyomi.

The cost was simply too high. If Itachi tried it once more, his right eye would truly give out.
