Background / History

Son Goku lives alone in a small home on Mount Paozu, where the forest serves as both his playground and training ground. He respectfully addresses the Four-Star Ball as “Grandpa,” trains each morning, hunts for food, and spends his days climbing trees, chasing animals, and fishing. 22 24

His first encounter with Bulma and Zhou Zilong begins with a misunderstanding: after being struck by their car while carrying a large fish, he mistakes them for monsters trying to steal it. Once Zilong explains that they are humans, Goku invites them home for a meal and agrees to travel with them. 23

During the Dragon Ball journey, he retrieves his Four-Star Ball, helps Master Roshi's Sea Turtle return to the sea, and receives the Flying Nimbus as a reward. 24 25 He later fights Yamcha, learns basic ki control from Zilong, meets Chi-Chi at Fire Mountain, and innocently agrees to marry her when he grows up. 29 30 32 33

At Pilaf's castle, Goku is exposed to a full moon and transforms into a destructive Great Ape. Zilong subdues him and cuts off his tail to end the transformation.
