Zhou Zilong opened his eyes to a completely unfamiliar scene. He rubbed his temples, struggling to recall what had happened. He remembered being swarmed by a group of people, and then... then he had died. But now, why was he standing on this wide road?
"Huh? Where am I? Didn't I get beaten to death by a mob?" Zhou Zilong muttered in confusion.
He forced himself to calm down and thought back to his life before the incident.
At that time, he was still a college freshman who had gotten into trouble for performing a righteous act.
In the end, he couldn't escape the pursuit of those people and died on the street. But now, he had miraculously resurrected and arrived in a completely strange world.
"Could it be that I've actually transmigrated?" A surge of inexplicable excitement and curiosity welled up in Zhou Zilong's heart. He decided to first figure out his current environment.
He continued walking along the sidewalk beside the road, constantly thinking about his future direction. About an hour later, he walked into a bustling metropolis. This city was unlike any he remembered; the towering buildings, busy streets, and all kinds of creatures made him feel both curious and excited.
Just as he was about to ask a passerby for information, a man with a wolf's head and a human body suddenly appeared in his line of sight. The man's attire was extremely similar to a werewolf character from an anime, leading Zhou Zilong to mistake this for a cosplay event. However, when the man spoke, Zhou Zilong, distracted, "thwacked" right into a utility pole.
"Little brother, are you alright?" the wolf-headed man asked with concern.
Zhou Zilong rubbed his head where he had hit the pole and replied, "Big brother, I'm fine. But your cosplay is way too realistic—even the fur is so lifelike."
The wolf-headed man was stunned for a moment, then laughed as he explained, "What cosplay? Sorry, little brother, I really am a werewolf."
Zhou Zilong was shocked to hear this. Realizing he had truly arrived in a different world, he hurriedly asked the werewolf about the state of this world.
Through his conversation with the werewolf, Zhou Zilong learned that he had actually transmigrated into the Dragon Ball World, a world filled with fantasy and adventure.
However, the combat power in this world was terrifyingly high; people could blow up planets at the drop of a hat, which made him feel a bit worried.
Without the Saiyan bloodline, without super-powered heritage, and without incredible innate talent, surviving in this world wouldn't be easy. He began to think about how to improve his strength to better handle future challenges.
"Other transmigrators at least get a cheat system or something. I have nothing but some basic Sanda skills. That might pass in a world with low power levels, but in a world like Dragon Ball where power levels go off the charts, I reckon I could only beat Mr. Satan," Zhou Zilong said, shaking his head helplessly after leaving the werewolf.
"I wonder what timeline this is. If it's still the early timeline, I might have a chance to improve my strength—like meeting the protagonist or supporting characters of Dragon Ball and activating a system to start my overpowered life," Zhou Zilong muttered to himself again.
Just as he was thinking about how to survive in this world, he noticed a high-end school.
The school's architectural style was unique and full of a sense of technology, forming a sharp contrast with the surrounding buildings.
As Zhou Zilong stared at the school, he heard a few hooded people whispering to each other.
They were looking toward one direction of the school, their faces filled with greed.
"That girl should be the heiress of Capsule Corporation. School is almost out; once it ends, we'll snatch her and demand a ransom of several billion from Dr. Brief," one of the kidnappers whispered.
Zhou Zilong was shocked. Capsule Corporation? Bulma? He immediately associated this with Dragon Ball, the classic anime he had watched since childhood. Moreover, judging from the kidnappers' conversation, the time period he was in was likely before the start of the first story arc.
Thinking of this, Zhou Zilong couldn't help but feel excited. If this was true, he had a chance to change his fate. He had to find Bulma, stop these kidnappers, and find his own place in this world.
Zhou Zilong hid in the shadows, quietly observing the kidnappers. They looked very professional and were clearly well-planned. He didn't dare act rashly and could only wait for an opportunity.
Finally, the school bell rang, the gates slowly opened, and students poured out. Zhou Zilong saw the girl targeted by the kidnappers—Bulma.
She was wearing a school uniform with her hair in a ponytail, her blue eyes sparkling with intelligence. Although she looked only eleven or twelve years old, she was exactly the same as her image in the anime.
"It seems I really have transmigrated to before the Dragon Ball plot began," Zhou Zilong thought to himself, feeling lucky. He knew this was the best time to take action.
He quietly followed behind Bulma, keeping a close eye on the kidnappers' movements. Sure enough, as soon as they saw Bulma come out, they immediately walked toward her.
"Miss Bulma, our boss would like to invite you for a cup of tea," one kidnapper said, stepping forward.
Bulma frowned, clearly wary of this sudden stranger. She was about to refuse when another kidnapper grabbed her arm.
"What do you want?" Bulma struggled and asked.
"Stop struggling and just come with us," the kidnapper sneered.
Seeing this, Zhou Zilong immediately rushed over. He kicked the kidnapper holding Bulma to the ground and then punched the other one who tried to step forward.
"Who are you? Why are you kidnapping Bulma?" Zhou Zilong demanded loudly, his voice filled with firmness and anger.
"Mind your own business!" the leader of the kidnappers roared when he saw someone interfering.
Although Zhou Zilong didn't know the ki-based techniques or martial arts of Dragon Ball, he had practiced Sanda for many years, and his physical fitness was far superior to these kidnappers.
He nimbly dodged the kidnappers' attacks while constantly counterattacking. Although his punches and kicks weren't as powerful as the warriors in Dragon Ball, every strike was filled with strength and determination.
Soon, the kidnappers were all knocked to the ground by Zhou Zilong. They lay on the floor, groaning in pain, unable to move anymore.
"Are you alright?" Zhou Zilong turned to look at Bulma and asked with concern.
Bulma nodded, a look of gratitude appearing on her face.
"Thank you for saving me," she said, her voice filled with gentleness and appreciation. Bulma looked at Zhou Zilong's figure, and an inexplicable emotion welled up in her heart. She had never seen such a brave and determined man; his appearance made her feel safe and warm.
"We need to leave here quickly, in case they have accomplices," Zhou Zilong said, then took Bulma's hand and began to run into the distance.
