Captain Videl

East City was a bustling metropolis, as renowned as West City, home of Capsule Corporation.

Both cities were the largest on Earth.

They were also the planet's two economic hubs.

Once, with Capsule Corporation in its midst, West City had been more prosperous than East City.

But then the Androids attacked, and West City fell, reduced to ruins.

The Androids had never gone to East City.

So by every measure, whether economy or population, East City had become the most prosperous city in the Dragon Ball world, bar none.

Son Gohan descended from the sky and landed atop a building over a hundred stories tall, gazing out over East City's bustling streets.

Traffic streamed along the roads, and crowds filled the streets with lively chatter. It was a peaceful, prosperous scene.

This was truly a golden age for humanity.

Son Gohan liked the world as it was now.

Half an hour earlier.

Elsewhere in East City.

Six members of the Speeding Party blew open the East City Bank with explosives.

"Boom!"

Flames shot into the sky, and thick smoke engulfed the entire street.

"Help! Someone, help!"

"No, please, let me go! I have elderly parents and young children..."

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The robbers pulled their triggers, bullets tearing from their guns and claiming one life after another.

As people died, the scene grew even more chaotic.

The robber carrying a submachine gun laughed wildly. "Ha ha ha! Listen, everyone, we're just borrowing some money to spend. If you insist on getting in our way, don't blame us for what happens."

"Everyone down! Hands behind your heads!"

The bank employees all crouched down, trembling.

Satisfied with their obedience, the robbers pulled out sacks and began stuffing them with money and gold bars.

But then an old man, tears streaming down his face, began cursing them loudly.

"You beasts! You filthy beasts! You'll get what's coming to you! Beasts!"

His wife had just been killed by the robbers.

He didn't want to live anymore, either.

"Hey!" One of the robbers grinned and pressed his submachine gun against the old man's forehead.

"Old man, you've got a death wish? If the Androids can do whatever they want, why can't we? We've been pretty merciful, haven't we?"

"You're no better than the Androids. You're both beasts," the old man said, unafraid.

"If you're so eager to die, I'll grant your wish."

The robber sneered and started to squeeze the trigger, ready to blow the old man's head off.

But just then, several police cars came screaming up and surrounded the East City Bank.

"Shit, those annoying flies got here fast." The robber stopped short of killing the old man and looked outside at the police, frowning.

A stunningly attractive policewoman stepped out of a patrol car. Holding a megaphone, she called to the robbers inside the bank.

"Everyone inside, listen up! You're surrounded. I'm Videl, the officer in charge of this operation. Release the hostages, and I promise you'll be allowed to leave safely."

"I'm giving you two minutes to think it over. The clock starts now."

Videl was in her early twenties, poised and heroic, with long black hair and a spirited look in her eyes.

She wore a uniform that emphasized her voluptuous figure, while making her long legs look even longer.

A real uniform fantasy.

The robbers inside the bank swallowed hard.

Then they gathered together and whispered.

"Damn, why's there such a gorgeous policewoman here?"

"You don't know who she is? She's East City's hero cop. She's never failed to crack a case."

"Seriously? She's that good?"

"Of course. Why do you think she's the captain? I've seen her in action. She's a martial arts expert and a real fighter."

"We're screwed. We didn't expect her to be leading the team."

"So what do we do, boss?"

"What are you afraid of? We've got guns and hostages. Why should we be scared of one woman out there?"

"I bet she doesn't have enough heads or hands to stop us."

"Should we hand over the hostages and ask her to let us go?"

"Can we trust her to keep her word?"

"Word is, she always keeps her promises."

"Fine, then we'll do what she says. We'll release the hostages, but she has to guarantee we can leave safely."

"Yeah, sounds good."

The robbers finished discussing their plan.

Then they shouted to the police.

"Fine, Officer Videl, we'll do as you say. We'll let the hostages go, but you have to guarantee we can leave safely."

"Just so we're clear, we have plenty of guns and ammunition. If you go back on your word, we won't hesitate to take you down with us."

"Officer Videl, what do you say?"

"No problem," Videl replied. "I promise. Now release the hostages."

"Fine," the robbers agreed.

Then they slung the sacks over their shoulders, took more than a dozen hostages, and left the bank for the main road.

The hostages were safely handed over.

The six robbers tossed the sacks into their cars and sped away.

They never expected that she'd really let them go just like that.

The robbers' laughter rang out from a distance.

"Ha ha ha! Videl, you bitch! One of these days, I'm gonna fuck you! Ha ha ha!"

The police officers were instantly enraged when they heard that.

The nerve of them!

Those bastards had insulted their captain!

A young male officer demanded angrily, "Captain, when are we going after them?"

Videl's eyes flashed coldly as she sneered. "Hmph. Let them enjoy themselves a little longer. Did you manage to plant the trackers and time bombs on their cars like I asked?"

The male officer nodded. "Of course. Here."

As he spoke, he handed Videl a tablet and a remote control. The tablet showed the live locations of the robbers' two cars.

Videl studied the tablet for a moment.

Then she took out a Capsule and tossed it to the ground. It transformed into a jet plane.

A few seconds later, she called out, "All right, now! Move in!"

"Yes, Captain!"

Several police cars sped off.

Videl took off after them in the jet plane.

The two cars raced along the wide road at breakneck speed.

One of the robbers hugged a sack to his chest, excitement in his voice. "Boss, where are we going to celebrate tonight? There's so much money here, we can live it up for ages."

"Maybe in a few days. For now, we should keep our heads down."

"Okay. Whatever you say, boss."

"Boss, we've got trouble! The police are catching up!"

One of the robbers spotted the police cars chasing them in the rearview mirror.

"What?"

"Holy shit!"

Another robber pointed at the jet plane hovering above them. "That plane up there must be with them, too."

"Shit, you're right."

"Damn it, Videl went back on her word. That woman's after us!"

"Shoot down the plane!"

Several robbers raised their submachine guns and opened fire on the police cars and the jet plane behind them.

Their guns spat fire, rattling off a barrage of shots.

Videl piloted the jet plane, dodging the bullets as best she could, but several stray rounds still struck the fuselage, sending sparks flying with a series of clangs.

Videl's expression grew colder and colder.

Soon, the robbers' cars reached an empty stretch of road.

"Heh. Time to face justice, you bastards."

Videl sneered and pressed the remote control in her hand.

"Boom!"

The two cars racing along the road exploded, sending money flying everywhere.

All six robbers were flung out, tumbling across the ground.

Each of them had suffered injuries of varying severity, and blood streamed from their broken heads.

One of them struggled to his feet.

"Damn it, what happened?"

One robber wiped the blood from his face and snarled.

"That bitch must've rigged our cars! Damn it!"

"I've still got another car in a Capsule. Everyone, get in! We'll get out of here!" he said, taking out a Capsule.

But before he could turn it into a car, several police cars arrived and surrounded them. Videl descended from the sky as well.

She jumped down from the jet plane and strode over on her long legs. She kicked one of the robbers over, then planted her foot on his chest.

She gave a cold chuckle. "Heh. Were you the one insulting me just now?"
