Background / History
Chi-Chi is the Ox-King's daughter. When the fire spirit engulfs Fried Bread Mountain, she becomes lost while trying to borrow Master Roshi's Banana Leaf Fan. Sun Wukong finds her, brings her aboard the Flying Nimbus to Turtle Hermit Island, and helps her seek Roshi's aid. Though frightened by the Nimbus's speed, she makes the journey and pleads for help for her father and home. 6
After the fire is extinguished, Chi-Chi becomes openly impressed by Sun Wukong's strength and jealous when Bulma embraces him. Wukong promises to return after finding the last Dragon Ball, but years pass without him visiting. 7 32
By the time Fortune Teller Baba visits Fried Bread Mountain, Chi-Chi has grown into a young woman and remains devoted to Wukong. Baba cannot divine their fate because Chi-Chi draws a blank card, but locates Wukong in West City. Chi-Chi then insists on leaving home to find him. 32 33
Appearance
Chi-Chi is initially described as a long-haired girl in blue armor. Years later, she has grown into a “pure and beautiful” young woman, wearing a blue qipao. 6 32

Personality
Chi-Chi is determined and direct about what she wants. Despite having rarely left Fried Bread Mountain, she refuses to let her father stop her from traveling to West City, packs supplies herself, and insists that her martial-arts background will keep her safe. 32 33
She is affectionate toward Sun Wukong and candid about her feelings, but her attachment also brings out jealousy toward Bulma. Their rivalry leads Chi-Chi to compete for Wukong's attention through cooking and to repeatedly assert her place beside him. 33 34 36
She later becomes more self-possessed. After learning that Wukong is dating Bulma, Chi-Chi accepts that the decision is hers to make, defends Wukong against the Ox-King, and continues pursuing her own path while living at Mount Paozu. 41 42

Search for Sun Wukong
After years apart, Chi-Chi asks Fortune Teller Baba about Wukong, learns he is in West City, and leaves Fried Bread Mountain to find him herself. Sun Wukong meets her in the mountains and brings her to West City on the Flying Nimbus. 32 33
Rivalry with Bulma
Chi-Chi and Bulma immediately clash over their affection for Wukong. They pull at him, compete through cooking, and both later recognize that pressuring him to choose drove him away. 34 35
Cultivation Training
