Son Gohan, the Uncle's Boy

Perhaps it was because Heaven took pity on Yamcha, or perhaps Frieza's arrival had made the Androids so much stronger that they'd grown overconfident.

Either way, this time the Androids didn't attack poor, unlucky Yamcha. Their target was the green-skinned King Piccolo, whose color was enough to make anyone uneasy.

He was luckier than Yamcha, too. Android 19 had only just ambushed him when Son Gohan spotted it.

Most people were mama's boys or daddy's boys. Son Gohan, however, was an uncle's boy. Not the kind of "uncle's boy" who referred to Qin Shubao's young companion Mengchang, but the kind who was simply closer to his uncle.

Seeing his Uncle Piccolo ambushed by an Android, Son Gohan flew into a rage and transformed into a Super Saiyan without a second thought.

His power level of 400 million shot up to 600 million with the rage boost! (Son Gohan's rage has a limit, which varies randomly~)

He kicked Android 19 flying in an instant.

Furious and unable to control himself, Son Gohan indirectly sent 19 crashing through countless flowers, plants, and skyscrapers. The island was thrown into chaos.

Fortunately, there were plenty of Supermen here, so things didn't get as bad as they could have. At worst, there was just some property damage.

Just how terrifying was an enraged Son Gohan?

Just look at the dent in 19's face. Android 19 had an energy level of 600 million, and energy level was equivalent to ki.

Android 19 couldn't control his body at all. He only came to a stop after crashing into another island.

By now, all the fighters were rushing over, including Android 20 himself—Dr. Gero.

Son Goku should have been the first one to fight, but the enraged Son Gohan wasn't following the script at all. He was unleashing a relentless barrage of attacks on Android 19.

19 really did have an energy level of 600 million, but after Son Gohan's ambush, it had dropped sharply. That was why Son Gohan was able to keep him on the defensive.

"Gohan's gotten this strong? His ki is incredible. I feel like it's even stronger than Son Goku's was when he first returned to Earth!"

Tien Shinhan said with a sigh. Yamcha and Chiaotzu nodded in agreement, while Krillin felt proud of his young fellow disciple.

Son Goku was Krillin's senior fellow disciple, so Son Gohan was naturally Krillin's junior nephew.

"Argh! Ah! Ah! Ah!"

"Die! Die! Die!"

Son Gohan fought differently from the others. He liked to shout as he attacked, which made him seem especially imposing.

As the fight dragged on, the energy stored inside Android 19 plummeted. He had less than 400 million left.

He was starting to panic!

When Son Gohan first exploded with power, his strength had soared to 600 million. But once his stamina ran low and his burst of power ended, his strength had actually dropped to less than 400 million.

And although Son Gohan had been the one pressing the attack, looking extremely aggressive, he knew very well that if they kept this up, he couldn't outlast an Android.

"Masenko!!!"

Son Gohan raised both hands to his forehead and unleashed an enormous energy wave straight at Android 19.

Watching from a distance, Frieza shook his head in disappointment.

Son Gohan was asking for trouble!

Sure enough, Android 20 laughed when he saw what was happening.

Android 19, facing the oncoming blast, wore a sinister smile. Piccolo saw it and thought, This is bad!

Grinning wickedly, Android 19 raised both hands and turned his palms toward the Masenko. Each palm had a glassy, spherical orb in it.

Then something incredible happened: Android 19 absorbed Son Gohan's energy wave!

Son Gohan panted, staring at what had just happened in disbelief.

Android 19 burst into laughter.

"Hah!!"

The Android let out a mighty shout, and the rubble around him was swept away in an instant. Frieza watched as Android 19's energy level returned to 600 million.

It seemed 600 million was Android 19's upper limit. Unlike in the original story, absorbing an energy blast couldn't raise his power by another hundred million or so.

Whoosh~~

Android 19 went on the counterattack. He charged straight at Son Gohan with a headbutt, moving so fast he even created a sonic boom.

"Not good!"

"Gohan, dodge!"

"Get out of the way, Gohan!!"

The others' shouts finally snapped Son Gohan out of his shock. He powered up again and tried to dodge.

Unfortunately, his stamina was running low, and he'd been caught off guard. He was just a moment too slow and couldn't get out of the way of Android 19's attack.

If Son Gohan took that hit, he'd either die or be seriously injured. The lightning rod on 19's head wasn't there for decoration. It could pierce right through him.

At a crucial moment, it was his uncle who came through. Fathers and the like were completely unreliable.

Piccolo had already taken off his weighted gear as soon as he realized something was wrong with 19. His battle power had risen by another 50 million, bringing it to 450 million.

When Son Gohan couldn't dodge in time, Piccolo was already in front of him. He crossed his arms defensively and blocked Android 19's powerful attack.

Bang!!!

A deafening crash echoed across the land. The shock wave reached the sea, where countless fish rolled belly-up, looking as if they'd died with their eyes open.

Despite the 150-million gap in their battle power, Piccolo managed to block 19's deadly blow.

His arms had been pierced, but he was a man with the Body Extension Technique. This was just a minor injury, nothing to worry about.

Vegeta stood with his arms folded, completely unmoved by what had happened.

Son Goku, on the other hand, perhaps realizing he hadn't done his duty as a father, struck out in a fury.

Whoosh!!

A golden aura surged into the sky, revealing the fury burning in Son Goku's heart.

Whoosh!

Bang!

Wham~~!

That single blow nearly sent the island crashing to the bottom of the sea. Android 19 was smashed straight through it and deep underwater.

Son Goku's battle power: 650 million!

In that moment of fury, Son Goku had abruptly risen from 600 million to 650 million. That was the Saiyan race, ruled by their emotions.

Sigh~

Frieza was getting bored. He couldn't bring himself to care about a fight like this. He'd have more fun finding Supreme Kai Shin to chat about life and play Gobang to pass the time.

Frieza was just about to leave when he suddenly sensed Son Goku's ki dropping rapidly. It fell from 650 million to just 300 million in no time!

That rate of decline was definitely abnormal!

If an Android had caught him and was draining the ki from his body, that would explain everything.

But Son Goku had only just powered up, and one kick had sent Android 19 sinking into the sea. The latter still hadn't emerged from the depths!

Frieza wasn't the only one who noticed Son Goku's condition. Everyone else did, too, and they all looked astonished.

Only Vegeta wore a thoughtful expression.

Boom!

Android 19 burst out of the ground and slammed into Son Goku, sending him flying. Then he unleashed a flurry of blows, and Son Goku couldn't fight back at all.

Worse, Son Goku's ki was still dropping.

When Android 19 knocked Son Goku to the ground again, leaving a gigantic crater, Son Goku could no longer maintain his Super Saiyan form!

"Dad!!"

"Goku!"

"Goku!"

"Old Son!!"

"Hmph! Kakarot, you useless fool!"

"Oh-ho-ho-ho~~~"
